FIFTEENTH SPRING AUBURN MINICONFERENCE
ON REAL ANALYSIS
Sponsored by NSF
Friday and Saturday, March 22-23, 2002
California State University, San Bernardino, CA 92407

Invited Principal Speakers:
Cliff Weil, Michigan State Univ.

"Multipliers of Classes of Derivatives"

Cliff Weil is the senior editor and one of the founders of the Real Analysis Exchange. His current research interests include properties of generalized derivatives and spaces of derivatives, and omega limit sets of continuous self-maps of the unit interval. Cliff's work and enthusiasm have inspired many mathematicians to work in the field of Real Analysis.

Dan Mauldin, Univ. of North Texas

"Some classical problems in geometry and analysis"

Dan Mauldin is a Regents Professor at North Texas. The recent winner of the coveted "Andy" award, he serves as an editor for Advances in Mathematics and also the Real Analysis Exchange. He is well known for organizing and editing the publication of the famous "Scottish Book." Dan has published well over 100 papers on a wide variety of mathematical topics, including set theory, probability, measure theory, dynamical systems, ergodic theory, real analysis, and topology.

Steve Jackson, Univ. of North Texas

"Existence of a Steinhaus Set"

Steve Jackson is a recognized expert in the field of Logic and Descriptive Set Theory, and winner of one of the prestigious "Victoria Delfino" prizes. He specializes in the consequences of various forms of the Axiom of Determinacy.

The meeting will begin with coffee and registration in Jack Brown Hall at 8:30am Friday. The schedule includes one-hour talks given by the invited principal speakers, as well as contributed 20-minute talks, from 9 to 5 both days. Please let us know if you would like to be included on the schedule as a speaker. Registration is free. We will not be able to pay the travel costs of participants but we will likely pay for the local (shared) motel room costs. We will also provide transportation to and from Ontario International Airport, located about 25 miles from campus. Participants driving to the conference may pick up a parking permit at the Information Center (IC-2) in front of Jack Brown Hall. Try to target arrival times for approximately 7:00 PM (PST) on Thursday, March 21. Some meals will be provided, including coffee, fruit, and doughnuts before morning sessions and the traditional picnic. We will have some funds set aside which can provide limited travel support.
