Welcome to the Quiz System for Precalculus
Introduction
In this project we developed a system to create, administer, record, and retrieve online precalculus quizzes. To do this, we expanded upon the quizzes in Interactive Precalculus, our site for delivery of precalculus content. We have produced a system that allows for instructors to easily create recorded quizzes as well as non-recorded practice quizzes. Quizzes consist of problem types selected by the instructor and then randomly generated when the quiz is accessed. Different students will obtain quizzes with the same type of problems but different numerical values involved and practice quizzes will appear different each time they are accessed. Students register to gain access to the precalculus pages and then may register for the class in which they are enrolled to access their instructor's quizzes. Quiz questions and scores are stored in a database for easy retrieval by the instructor or the student with the option of producing a pdf version for each quiz. Instructors can also retrieve all scores for an individual student or for the entire class. This project is funded, in part, by the Teaching Resource Center, California State University San Bernardino. The authors are grateful to the University for its support.
How to use the System
All users need to register to use the system. This is free but needed to keep track of quiz scores. Users need to provide all information required including a valid email address. Once you have registered you can then log on to the system. You can register here.If you are an instructor who wants to use the system, you need to provide us with additional information. You can do that by sending an email to pwilliam@csusb.edu with the following information:
- Name
- Institution
- Address
- Telephone Number
- Registered Username or Userid
If you are a student and your instructor is using the system, he/she will give you an access code to register for that class. Once you have registered for the class, you will have access to the quizzes your instructor creates for you. Of course, you do need to register in the system first.
